Objective:

Create voices for at least 4 different characters in an animated film.

Methods:

  • Your Creative Lab partners will provide you with an animated film, sans voices. You will work with one other voice actor. I suggest distributing parts that make dialog easier, to cut down on the amount of time necessary to record.
  • Using the Logic program, share a file with your group, recording the voices and vocal sounds for each character.
  • You will be able to view the movie as you speak. Try to match the dialog to the movement of the character’s mouth.
  • You may need to record each character separately. Sometimes you can use two microphones and inputs, recording a relatively long section.
  •  The Audio Creative Lab students will do the final editing of the film, but you should deliver labeled tracks, with obvious flubs edited out.

Grading:

The Animated Film is a complex project worth 200 points.
  • Collaborate. Use the sounds, as they are added, to stimulate creativity. Music can be very effective in helping to establish the mood for the character.
  • Edit your demo so that the cuts are aesthetically suitable to the transitions.
  • Make each of your voices distinct and consistent. Each voice should be recognizable for each character and should not vary throughout the film in terms of quality, overall volume, rate, pitch, articulation, and dialect.
  •  The final film will be bounced from the Logic program by the Creative Lab students on the Due Date. Any changes to the project must be uploaded to the server by this time.

Due Date:

Friday, April 30, 5:00 p.m.
